Smartphone : smart or fool

Hi friends welcome to the new blog.I think you should have got an idea about what we are going to discuss in this blog ,if not then why fear when I am here.So let's begin.
*Smartphones in India
India is the second largest smartphone market in the world just behind china. There are so many national and international brands who release a new smartphone everyday.According to the joint study of ASSOCHAM(The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India ) and PwC( Price waterhouse Coopers) there are around 468 millions of smartphone in india till 2017.This whooping number is likely to be doubled in 2022.Yes that much smartphones we will be using in 2022.Now a days smartphone has became an integral part of our life. They are widely used for the purpose of communication, entertainment, payments, etc. From a child to grown up all are fascinated by smartphone.
*Applications we use
We use various apps in our smartphone daily.Whatsapp, facebook, Google, you tube to name few.Ohh i forgot to mention a legendary app tik tok.Forgive me for this huge mistake tiktokers 😅.If you are a smartphone user then you are aware that all apps require some permissions to run.Permissions like access to camera, storage, sensors, location, microphone, etc. Most of us without any hesitation agree all the permissions. But some apps wants permissions which are not required to run the app.For example UC browser wants permission to your contacts.I don't understand why a web browser require your contact.I am not blaming but apps like this collect your data like email id,contacts, location through this permissions and sales on dark web and they make money out of this.
Google also use your data to show you personalized ads.Have you ever experienced that when you search for a product on online shopping sites let say Amazon ,you will see that when you surf internet you will see same product's advertisement  again and again. Is this not invasion of your privacy, yes it is.Same case in YouTube's recommendation page.
There are so many cases of data breaching most of them due to irresponsible attitude of users. Some recent examples are cambridge analytica scandal, whatsapp pegasus spyware, trucaller data leak, facebook fraud, etc.
 *A new era of hacking
Hackers are upgraded now, they figure out various methods to steal your data. Most famous and easy way to hack your smartphone is through an spyware application .These kind of applications self grant all permissions i explained above and send your phone's data to hacker's server, that's it.These apps are very small in size like some 20-30 kb and do not have any icon. This apps are installed through a link . They are not available on playstore.Be carefull with unknown links.
*Some safety majors
  • ‌Whenever you install an app go through it's required permissions and deny unnecessary permissions.
  • ‌Never install application from unknown source it can install Trojans
  • ‌Avoid links shared on social media platforms which are fake.
  • ‌Secure your all accounts, phone with a strong password (Don't use your crush's name as password)
*Final vichar:-
I know most of you will ignore my suggestions but your data, privacy is on the line and you have to defend it.Smartphones are very powerful tools but I have heard somewhere that power comes with responsibility.Use your phone with proper care.फिर मत कहना बताया नही।So that's it for today, see you in the next blog.Do comment and share.
Thank you .
